Sunday School Class Descriptions
Nursery Class Ginny Andrews, Teacher
This class is for children from infants through age 3. Toys and books are provided for the children to play with during class. There are also age appropriate crafts, playtime and stories/talking about Jesus that are done with the teacher.
Beginners Class Bob Stafford, Teacher
This class is for children ages 3 years old to those completing 1st grade. Each Sunday, the children listen to a Bible Story that is assigned through current Sunday school materials. The children learn to look up the Bible verse that goes along with the lesson and memorize short Bible verses. They also do activities from the Make It, Take It book. On special occasions and holidays, crafts are done for fun! The children look forward to PRIZE Sunday where they get a small token for learning their verses.
Primary Class Lisa Love, Teacher
This class is for 2nd and 3rd grade students. Each week we learn a new Bible lesson. We accomplish this goal in a variety of ways, anywhere from popping balloons, to playing games, to serious study. We then take that lesson and learn how to apply it to our daily lives.
Middlers Class
The fourth and fifth grade Sunday School class is starting a new curriculum beginning in April, 2008. The focus of the curriculum will be to study each of the major Bible stories throughout the old and new testaments within one year. Additional time will be spent on ways to remember each story and how they connect to one another. The students will also work on memorizing the Biblical Account of Easter and Christmas. If you know someone who may be interested in the class
Jr. High Class Roger McClain, Teacher In our class we discuss how God can help in our daily lives. We try to apply Biblical knowledge to their age appropriate situations. We focus in one particular subject that the students can take and apply in their lives for the upcoming week.
Sr. High Class Jeff Hawkins, Teacher
The Sr. High Sunday School class is an informal class that meets to pray together and study topical Bible lessons (College Press Curriculum). Taught by Jeff Hawkins, the High School class meets in the Youth Center/Lounge area each Sunday morning at 9(ish) a.m.! Our class is sponsored and fueled by Mt. Dew.
Foundation Class John Love, Teacher
The Foundation Class helps to define the essential elements that make up the core beliefs of the Licking Valley Church of Christ. For those who are new to the Christian faith, the class provides a foundation on which they can continue to develop their faith. For those who have been a Christian for some time, the class provides a way to strengthen their faith.
Berean Class Gus Andrews, Teacher
The Berean Sunday School class is for both men and women and meets in our Chapel 9 a.m. each Sunday. The class studies topics brought up by the Sunday Morning sermon and is taught by our preacher. Scriptures through out the Bible on that subject are examined in hopes of coming to a comprehensive view of what God says on the matter at hand. Our class derives its name and mission form Acts 17:11, which says, “Now the Bereans were of more nobel character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” All adults are welcome to join us on this journey.
Inner Circle Class Jim Fullen, Teacher
The Inner Circle Adult Sunday School Class is open to ages 18 – 150. The
Inner Circleis defined as “all those in Christ”, disciples who wish to study and examine in-depth God’s holy word together, according to the Bible itself, book by book. The class chooses which book and the men share in the responsibility of teaching it. The method is reading, instruction, referencing, discussion, and testing, but can vary to fit the teaching style of the instructor. The purpose is to learn and better understand the teachings of the Bible, to foster study, evangelism and teaching, and to encourage, strengthen and mature each other in the faith. After a study, the class member is awarded a Certificate of Achievement showing successful completion. The class meets each Sunday at 9:00-9:45 a.m. in the far end, down front of the Sanctuary.
The Young Adult Class: Ages 18-25 Mike Frazier, Teacher
This class addresses the issues we as young adults face day to day, from relationships, to school, and our own personal faith. It will be focused as more as a discussion instead of just lecture, and hopes to draw on everyone's personal experiences as a starting point, with a biblical foundation to guide us. It is a summer class where everyone can not only learn, but grow in our faith as well. It will meet for 13 weeks starting June 14th, 2009. Please contact Mike Fraizer at 740-404-0451 with any thoughts, ideas, or if you would like to join!
